As you show, Richard, news philanthropy foundations are emperors with no clothes when it comes to actual innovation of methods to grow sustainable new revenue streams for journalism.

This is because the industry leadership shackled themselves 25 years ago to the exploitative VC-generated Adtech ecosystem.

Adtech steals $350b+ a year from civilians through identity brokerage. As a result the industry now gets pennies on the dollars they used to receive.

We can take this money back simply by aligning journalism WITH civilians in support of privacy and against exploitative industry forces.

Reconstitution has pitched this to Press Forward, Knight, Aspen, and Mozilla for 5 years but they flocked to gen’ai’ and blockchain instead.

More VC exploitative unethical distractions.

Journalism, not the failed news media industry, needs to get some guts and separate from failed industry leadership.

Journalists need to stand with civilians rather than vested interests. We need to reconstitute journalism and its role in democracy.

Let’s talk.

Richard, you might be interested to look at some smaller nonprofits also working with a paywall model -- such as our effort in Springfield, Missouri -- the Springfield Daily Citizen. https://sgfcitizen.org/
